Mens Jewelry
Mens jewelry was once thought of as a fashion faux pas;
however, it is now becoming more and more prevalent. It has long since
been accepted for men to wear things such as a watch and a wedding ring;
however it is only recently that is accepted for men to have their ears
pierce and wear a gold chain. Male ornaments seem to be slightly more
accepted in the European countries or countries where Haute couture
has a greater presence.
Mens jewelry can range from a rubber bracelet to a gold chair or a
wedding ring. Just like women’s fashion, the male gender can now
project a sense of individuality through their accessories. In Business,
formal attire often consists of a French cuff shirt with beautiful cufflinks
which display a rare gemstone along with a complimenting tie pin. In
fashion, it is almost as though the male gender has to catch up with
the female gender for individuality, which in many other circumstances
is the opposite.
Mens jewelry can often times be found in music videos. It is common
to hear rappers sing about “ice” or “bling”,
which refers almost specifically to diamonds. The media has a huge influence
on men’s ornamentation becoming more of a norm. Even though the
industries picture of male decoration may be over the top it is undeniable
that it is becoming more and more accepted.
